The gorgeous island of Palawan in Philippines is a tropical paradise situated off the Southeast Asian shoreline. With a vibrant culture ensconced in the most invigorating veins of nature, the region of El Nido in particular, has become a focal point for tourists worldwide. Situated at the northern tip of Palawan, these beautiful islands are a heavenly vacation spot for anyone on their travels.

Travelling to El Nido can be done via three methods – you can fly from Manila to the Lio Airport in El Nido, charter a ferry from Manila to Buena Suerte, or take a bus from the San Jose Terminal in Puerto Princesa to El Nido. Hotels with varying price ranges are available throughout El Nido, so even if you’re short on cash, you can still explore this slice of heaven without constraint.

The most important thing to do during your vacation in El Nido is to go island-hopping. Kayak through the big and small lagoons in Miniloc Island to see some sloping limestone hills encompassing pools of teeming marine life. Hike along the Lagen Trail in Lagen Island for a chance to observe some historical Neolithic artifacts and tropical birds in action. Travel to the Paradise Beach, Natnat, and Bocal Point for a day of rest and relaxation at Cadlao Island. If beaches aren’t your thing, then give the Makaamo Lagoon at this largest island in El Nido a try to see some spectacular sea floors and mysterious lagoons interspersed with the tallest peak in the region. Drop by Bacuit Bay to observe dugongs, manta rays, and various marine turtles paddling amicably amidst the crystal-clear waters. Unroll your picnic mat at the Dilumacad Island (Helicopter Island) and explore its complex reefs and underwater tunnel while snorkeling. Slap on some sunscreen and go sunbathing at the snow white beaches of Pangalusian Island, and travel to Cudungon Point to witness some ancient Sung Dynasty relics. Visit Vigan Island – also known as ‘Snake Island’ – and view the curving sand spit that has earned the island its nickname during shallow tide. Discover the Secret Beach in Matinloc Island via an alluring diving experience through underwater passages.

Once you’ve had your fill with all the beautiful islands of El Nido, travel to the Aberawan River to watch some native egrets nest along the mangrove grooves during sunset. Don’t forget to visit ancient sites of human inhabitation at Ille Cave in New Ibjay during your vacation as well. If you crave a more urban setting, then travel to the township in Población for an eclectic dining experience. Don’t miss out on all these wonderful vacation spots along your travels in El Nido in the Philippines!
